Lithology and Thickness
In the lower part, polymictic and tuffogenic sandstones of various grain sizes, interbedded with siltstone (aleurolites), predominate. Higher up, polymictic siltstone (aleurolites) and siliceous-schistose slates are found. At the boundary between sandstones and siltstone (aleurolites), various mekhano glyphs, traces of sediment flow, ripple marks, and sometimes cross-bedding are observed. Thickness 180-250m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Contacts with underlying deposits are disturbed (371), but O.N. Khaletskaya (457) and in the Strat. sl. (441) suggested a transgressive overlap of the suite on Llandovery deposits
Upper contact
Conformable overlap by Ludlow deposits.
Regional extent
South Nuratau, water-dividing part and northern slope of Karakchatay from the Tusun River in the west to the Karasu village in the east; Gobduntay Mountains, central watershed of the Almaly River. The Mullmalin Fm is an age and lithological analogue of the Kushkumbay Fm of S. Tamdytau of Kyzylkumov.
